States with Low Cost Guns

This is not a scientific survey by any means. In fact, it's not even a survey, but which state, one should think, would have the lowest gun prices on average?

I would imagine the level of competition and ownership rates would matter greatly (as well as costs of doing business - specifically, gun business).

Would it be Texas? Utah? Care to guess? Any thoughtful ideas?

Im gonna guess that Arkansas has pretty cheap prices compared to the neighboring states.

In the bigger guns shows here (LittleRock,Fort Smith, Hot Springs) we get alot of out of state dealers that charge their normal prices, which are always quite a bit higher than what we are used to seeing.

My brother in Illinois, bought a Glock for 479 plus taxes. Same GLock here was 379. He had shopped around quite a bit and was tickled at the price...till he came here and saw the exact same thing for 100 bucks less.

I notice on the various gun auction sites on the net that they seem to start a higher prices than what we can buy new here.

Lowest dealer cost on any non refurb glock I can remember was $390, and that was back in '94.

This must've been awhile ago.

From what I can tell Fla has some good prices. I seem to be paying about $50 to $100 less than alot of others. At least on used stuff.

$300 Beretta 92 FS Compact model M
That's all I can think of for now of the ones I've compared with others here.And all are in very good to excellant condition some unfired or appear to be.

Utah isn't bad, but not good

I've bought all my guns locally and on most of them I would always check prices on gunbroker.com first and everything was always about the same price locally or even a little less (not to mention all the savings in shipping and transfer fees). $479 is what I paid for my Glock.

I would think that sales taxes and local market conditions would be the main factors in gun costs. Here in Ky we pay 6% sales tax but the economy is picking up here in central Ky. Last week I bought a NIB SIG P2340 for $413.00 OTD. As usual,it pays to shop around.
Caveat emptor.

I pay $20 over wholesale across the board. Thats the way my FFL does it. Anyone in AL. can do the same thing if they deal through him.

Well, the low cost gun state would NOT be Maryland....

And after the stock of pre "intregal safety lock" guns diminishes the prices will be twice as outrageous.

And we have to keep on funding that useless ballistic fingerprinting.

You see, every handgun sold in Maryland must now have an integral safety lock, and come from the manufacturer with a spent casing which is sent to th State Police BEFORE you get your gun.
Oh...Don't forget the $10 State police background check fee.....


All of that makes the additional mandatory seven day waiting period and NO CCW seem trivial.

Heck, guns are so cheap in Colorado, you can sometimes get one for $1.00 with a fill up and car wash.
