I was at the kahr website to order some extra recoil springs and came acrosss a ss guide rod. what would be the benefit of having one of these? is it just the fact that they are ss or that they will lessen the recoil as well? next question, i read before that the recoil springs should be changed every so many rds but i don't remeber the amout that was suggested can anyone help me out here? thanks!

I don't know of any preformance benefit to a SS rof other than the fact that it won't rust. As this part is inside the gun and should be kept oiled or greased anyway, I can't see any real advantage to it. SS tends to gaul (sp?) more than regular carbond steel so that may work against you in some circumstances.

As for the recoil spring, I think Kahr suggests changing them every 3000rds but I change mine every 2000 to reduce damage. These guns will wear out the recoil springs faster than most. It is not a defect, just a fact of life when you are dealing with such a small 9mm or .40S&W.

albanian,

2000rds sounds like a good number i will take your advice and do it that way, well that means i have a long way to go before it needs to be done but i will be sure to keep up the round count on it so i'll know when it needs to be done. thanks! oh and i see that you are from indy, iwas there over thanksgiving and shot at a nice indoor range near indianapolis. i was impressed with the range and the shop, and shot pretty good too!
