Walk along a railroad track and pick up old plates. Some of them are quite thick. Get 3 steel fenceposts (2 side & a top bar) and some chain. you are good to go. Now these are for longer range shooting since they dimple from every rifle shot but hard to beat the price. Especially if you happen to walk along a railroad every day.
I have their Rimfire dueling tree & the heavy-duty Evil Roy practice targets. They are built super solid and will last forever. Our local club shoots on many of their steel targets for 3 gun matches. They are ancient and still have very minor surface damage/wear.
You have a superb target maker in your backyard. Mabry Industries, out behind Gibsonville, cuts and sells steel targets to cowboy clubs, IPSC and IDPA. http://www.mabryind.com/
I can speak to their quality. Plasma cut as ordered. Clean edges.
