Great job on the new forum Oleg.
Good to see everybody responding so quickly, and I'm glad to get my first post out of the way.

Opened a present from my 16yr old step-daughter yesterday morning, and got a Red Ryder BB gun!

Man, toninght I'm going to hang a target on a metal sign, and start bangin' away from 5 ft.

I got the same for my boy with an additional stock that I have already cut down for him. Never seen a kid so happy...

Congrats
I bought myself one years ago,never rec'd one as a kid :(

I was surprised to see them for sale in the EZ Mart Xmas day.
Clerk said "selling like hot-cakes"...tho suspected the adults were buying for themselves and using kids as an excuse
;)

Man I havent played with one of those since I was a kid!!! A friend of mine has one in his closet with a gun lock on it

Actually bought 2 years ago
kept 1 for me (deprived childhood thingee)

2nd one removed sights and taught shotgunning with it. Its around the old club I guess.

Red Rider and ping pong balls great for teaching
Credit Bob Brister for that tidbit of knowledge
;)

What a gifty nift, er I mean nifty gift. Hee hee! Have fun with it - I have no doubt you will.

I have an awesome stepdaughter, too. :)

I bought one myself a couple of years ago. I remember the old ones having a little more zip. This one you can see the bb come out and follow it's path. I oiled it and everything, but it just is kind of wimpy. Still fun though.

More POWER!!!

I used to have one of the pellet rifles, the kind you should only pump it 25 times, I'd put about 75 cranks to it!! That thing would dent steelplate...did'nt last too long though???:D

I must have shot 3-4 million BBs through mine when I was a kid! Seemed like I could hit almost anything out to about 50'. Talk about a shooting trainer! :D

I got a Daisy for Christmas when I was a kid.
It wasn't as cool as the Red Ryder though.
I saw this neat BB gun on the shelf at the local "five and dime" store. It had a scope on it!
I must have told my folks that I wanted it, because it was under the tree on Christmas day.

Guess what. It had a metal tube on it with no optics! You couldn't hit a barn with it, and it wasn't adjustable.
I took the "scope" off and threw it away.
I learned to be a real dead-eye with no sights.

I opened that Red Ryder, and it was liking taking a trip back in time.
I am sure it would be the same with a train set, race track, GI Joe, etc.

I am looking forward to putting some coke cans in the back yard and going nuts.

Oh, and as soon as as I opened the package, I think my wife and all my kids said in unison "You'll shoot your eye out.".

Wife gave me a Red Ryder last year, along with the admonition...
"Don't shoot your eye out, Ralphie...."

I have the official 16' range set up in the basement, so when I can't get to the regular range, I can punch holes in paper downstairs.:D
