Hello,

I have been trying to get a scope mounted on an old Stevens 416 22LR for a while now with no luck. Does anyone know how I can mount a scope on this thing without drilling? It's a great shooter and really want to put something on this.

It has blocks that I can put weaver rail pieces on but only long scopes like unertl will fit, and not modern scopes

You could probably use a LER(pistol) scope to get some magnification. From the pic it looks in great condition so don't D&T it. Theres plenty of other screwed with out there. The 416 wasn't a high production gun so untouched ones are hars to find.

Here's what I did back in the 80's. The one piece rail is dovetailed onto the existing blocks and held in place by a couple of setscrews:

I have two 416's, this one didn't have a rear sight on it when I bought it. Until last night I hadn't handled it in 20 years. After working the action a few times I may just have to take one out for a test drive.
