Howdy folks,

I was talking with my father yesterday about some of the firearms he has. He mentioned that an old double barrel he had inherited was having problems after he had a smith take some pitting out of the receiver and reblue the metal. This happened almost 15 years ago and he's had problems ever since. I told him I'd pass the issue along to you folks and see if any of you could shed some light on the situation. I don't have much experience with double barrel or single shot shotguns, so bear with me if I don't have some of the terminology correct.

The shotgun is a 16 gauge Stevens model 530A. The problem is with what my father calls the britch. The lever that unlocks the barrels and receiver. Sometimes when it is pressed to the side to unlock the action, it will jump back to the locked position before the action can open. My father tells me that before he had it worked on, it had no issues with this.

I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
