Hello, I'm a little new to this forum, I don't know if the people here look down on tech questions, if so please let me know. My question is, I recently purchased a stevens (savage) 620 pump action shotgun. my father purchased it as a wall hanger from an auction house, it was obviously abused for years. well we fired it for a little bit then the lock on the slide broke. now the slide only locks if it is racked with the muzzle pointed skyward. is there anyone here who is familiar with these shotguns or knows where I can find a repair manual or parts? thanks for any help you can provide

The 620 is essentially a cosmetic modification a 1903 JMBrowning patent (for the Stevens 520), and like its predecessor is generally not very user-friendly for DIY repair. Parts are available on a sometimes limited basis from Jack First, Numrich and other suppliers of parts for out of production firearms. In good mechanical condition and proper tune, the 520/620 are pretty robust designs.

Find a gunsmith who is familiar with the design, would be my suggestion.

It's worth fixing. Like Lee said, the 520/620 series are durable, robust and lock up like bank vaults.
