Stevens Savage 87D Front Sight Replace

A buddy of mine lives in Mexico and he doesn't have access to a good gunsmith. He has an old Stevens/Savage 87D and the front sight broke when it was accidentally dropped. We purchased a few replacement sights online but he is unsure how to remove the old broken one. The only replacement sights that we could find were plastic ones (that's why we bought two). It appears to be a simple friction fit.

Does anybody know the best way to remove the old broken sight?:banghead:

they just drift out from the left to the right , use a brass drift punch and a hammer tap it out and tap in a new one
