I know everyone loves Glocks, but after shooting a few of them at the range, I just don't think they fit my hands correctly. It seems there is a cant upwards and I have to purposely cant the gun downward.

A friend (former manager of Gat guns) recommended the Steyer M9. t about $450-$600 it seems like a good deal. I plan on shooting this before August. Any comments on this gun.

I went to Hickock45 on YouTube and watched the video of the gun and he loved it. Any comments?

Glocks don't fit my hands either, and I happen to think they are ugly too........but a Steyr M9 is an unusual recommendation. I have not shot one but do find them interesting, just have never seen one in the flesh. I would think you should try a Walther PPQ and HK VP9, both super ergonomic and comfortable to hold. I also liked the CZP07, which surprised me as I always thought they were odd looking. If you can find a CZ75b to try you would probably like it but the CZ is an old school steel gun. I happen to like steel but you may be looking for plastic. Let us know if you find a Steyr and how you like it.
9 fingers

steyr trigger pull and ergos are top notch, but the 9mm has a rep of sometimes requires playing with the ejector and spring, worst case sending back to jeff in ala to be fixed. the 9mm often like to toss brass right at your head and face. plus the trapezoid combat sights are not for everyone. it's a love it or hate it deal. also a severe lack of aftermarket.......from limited holster choices to everything else. that has to be considered before buying, unless just a range toy.

i own a c9a1, a l9a1, and a m40a1 and .357 sig barrel. i'll put the steyr up against any other plastic, but it's not for everyone, both in looks and everything else. it has one of the best trigger pulls in the plastics by far. that's it real advantage and it's low bore grip ergos.

is it better than a glock or m&p etc? i wouldn't say that..it has it's pluses and glock and the rest has there's. i own most of the plastic pistols and i find them all to be very capable. the competition has many advantages going for it that can't be ignored.

btw, it's spelled steyr.:)

Had an early Steyr M40 with the added safety I loved it only problem was the hot brass hitting me in the forehead got old quick so I sold it.
The fit was perfect on the grip and the sights were ok.

I have a L9A1. My ejection issues were cured by a call to Steyr that brought a new extractor(same as the original) and new, stronger spring to my mailbox- no need to send the gun back.

By far, the softest shooting polymer gun I've ever shot.

YMMV

Have had an M9 for a number of years now and find it's ergonomics to be greatly superior to that of a Glock 17. The design and shape of the grip portion of the frame feels great, like putting my hand into a form fitting glove. The low bore axis also helps in making this gun seem like it's an extension of my arm when I bring it onto target. The trap sights do take some getting use to but I really like the concept behind them. I even like the trigger guard safety though it is a bit awkward to get to at times. My only problem initially was with spare mags; mine came with only one 10 rounder (manual stated there were supposed to be two with the gun). Got that cleared up with the importer and have since bought several high capacity factory mags for it.

Had one during the ban--frustrated with only having 10 round mags available---I traded it off

Good guns--but getting too expensive these days

I really need to dig my M9 out of the safe, give it a good cleaning, and get it to the range. I haven't shot it in a long time.
