I hesitate to ask, but have any of you had trouble registering on the steyrclub.com website?

I want to learn more about the pistols, but they have some clever "random question" that must be answered before registration.

"What is the name of the person who created the original Steyr M Series pistol?"

From what I know, it is Wilhelm Bubbits. But that doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

While we are on the topic, anyone have any experience with the subcompact S-9A1?

Thanks for the reply. I saw the same article. "Friedrich Aigner" did not work. From what I can tell, Bubbits seems to get the credit for it.

Unless there is some sort of system glitch, it is annoying to have to jump through such hoops to register.

sir GZOh Jr, i encountrd d same problem. are you a member now? anyone who can help us, tnx

Wilhelm Bubits

Lose the extra "b" and see what that gets you. Good luck.

Umm, forgive me for saying this but, what BS. It's one thing to ask a question to get by the computerized spammers. It's another thing to come up with something no one can figure out... Jeez.

The S9-A1 is fairly uncommon, having been caught in the phase-out of selling Steyr pistols here in the US. I have an original S9 that I've had for years, and really like it. (I also got a M357 - I do like the Steyrs!)

And yeah, the forum can be annoying. I stopped going there last year. :cuss:

Its a shame that Steyr does not understand or support the US market. They are great guns with huge upside but there is little love for an unsupported gun in the crowded US market.

I owned a S40, S9 and a M9 but sold all of them when I had frame damage to the S40. Took over 6 months to get a replacement. Soon after that the new M9A1s were being sold off at CDNN ending their presence in the US market.

Do they still have a US office in GA?

Since the launch of the new website back in December, there have been many questions concerning the absence of the Steyr Pistol series from our product lineup. Hopefully, we can address some of those concerns.

Steyr Arms, Inc., which is the US Importer for Steyr-Mannlicher GMBh in Austria, has imported over 20,000 pistols into the US market over the last couple of years. Many of those pistols are still available for retail sale at various distributors and dealers across the country. However, current market conditions and currency fluctuations between the Euro and the US dollar have severely hampered the ability to produce the pistol in an economically viable manner. Unfortunately, these additional costs plus the traditional costs of importing prevent us from being able to sell the pistol at a commercially competitive price point at this time.

For these reasons, Steyr Arms, Inc is not importing any additional quantities of pistol that will be available on the wholesale market for the foreseeable future. However, we are in a research and development phase to see how Steyr can compete in the future without sacrificing the quality that has made Steyr so popular. Please know that Steyr Arms, Inc will continue to service and warrant all current model pistols and rifles as always. We will continue to service and carry parts and accessories for all M and S series pistols in all calibers.

Hopefully this will address any concerns or confusion that exists. If you have any additional questions feel free to contact our customer service department at 205-467-6544. Thank you for your interest in Steyr Arms.
