Steyr M40 Discussion

Ergonomics... it was one of the reasons I almost didn't buy my M40. It looked very funky though the price was right at the time (CDNN for around $289 NIB). I believe it was someone on this forum (or TFL) that clued me in that not only were the ergos great on polymer Steyrs, but perhaps designed around that very thing.

I did end up buying the M40 and it's still one of the best "deals" I've run into; an awesome value to say the least. It fits my hand like a glove and is THE mildest recoiling pistol in .40S&W that I've ever experienced (possibly due to the combination of a low bore axis, great ergonomics and beefy slide). This is probably why I also shoot the M40 "better" than any of my other pistols chambered in .40S&W.
I would never dream of selling mine.

My only concern is the recoil spring. I've already put a couple thousand rounds through mine and it will possibly need a replacement soon (especially as I plan to carry mine for hikes with fairly stout Buffalo Bore or Double Tap ammunition). I don't know exactly where to look for one as my usual go-to place for recoil springs (Wolff) didn't offer anything for Steyr last I checked.
