All,

I just purchased a NIB Steyr M9 for $329. I am a lefty, and the safety mechanisms are ambi. I purchased it with a little apprehension because I knew that Steyr had lost their US
importer for awhile and I have not heard much about the pistol. But, I shot it at the range, and liked the feel and heft. Purchased it right away when told the price. Now lets see if it was worth it.

On Sunday I went to Georgia Guns and Range in Duluth, Ga. I ran threw 200 rds. First impression where that the recoil is very slight from such a lightweight, short barrelled semi. Accuracy was only ok with first two clips. I repositioned my grip with my stong hand a little lower then I use on my CZ85, and moved my weak hand off the trigger guard so it is just a support now. Bang, started tearing the 9/10 ring out of a sillihouette target at 7 yards. Accuracy was not as good at 10 yds, put I think it will increase with practice. The fun really started goin when I learned that double taps with this gun are so easy to throw. I have never had much success with ANY handgun hitting a solid spot on the second shot of a double tap. But this guns recoil and muzzle flip are so minimal, that recentering the target again is idiot proof. If I can do it any idiot can. So a very fast 60 rds later, i am grinning ear to ear.

Things learned... the trigger and action where a little sticky at
first, smoothed out after about 40 rounds and then kept getting a
little better. The M9 practically leaps apart when you start stripping it. Very simple to clean and maintain. Very lightweight, easy to holster, carry and draw. I really like the trigger area safety.

I have read many more articles about this weapon since friday. There have been many people singing its praises and a very vocal few that say it is dangerous. I say to them, please send me one verfied incident where this weapon was faulty and caused an AD or slam fire. Until you do, please spread your rumours more, that way I can buy as many as I can of these fine handguns at cheap prices.

Anybody want to buy a CZ85

What's a "verifiable report"? A county coroners report?

I don't think you'll get an official confirmation of a Glock kaBoom for Smyrna, either.

CONGRATS

I am glad that you joined the Steyr club. Steyr handguns are probably one of the most contoversial handguns around. If you go to TFL it would blow you mind how people went round and round about the safety of this gun. I now own three of them and have had no problems with safety. I did drop my M9 onto a wood floor without any discharge.

As to the trigger they are pretty tight when they are brand new. I do allot of dry firing to get them into shape. They shoot like a dream now. Be sure and check out CDNN. When I bought my S40 it was only $299 and they sold me mags for $14. You can buy the M40 mags and shoot 9mm in them. It will get you 12 rounds instead of 10.

I just posted a bunch of pics and a review of my new S40. Check it out.
