I did try the integral sights, I quite literally cannot push my cheek far enough into the stock to obtain a usable sight picture.

It helps to flip up the ghost ring... HEE. :p

Hogwash. You must conform to the rifle

lol.

Point taken!

And although I do not yet own a Steyr Scout, I have shouldered one recently. The flip-up integral ghost ring sight seemed to work for me, and comfortably. But then again, I am unusual. Hahaha...

Either way, I envy you this rifle. Congrats, again, on your acquisition of a great piece.

I paid $1400 shipped for this one, plus sales tax and transfer. I think a blued gun without the threaded barrel could probably be found for closer to $1100 or so.

Was that online, or a local store? I've been thinking of hunting one down for a couple of years now.

I think I may not be looking in the right places.

Online, but not an auction site. I searched all the usual auction sites and was pretty convinced the one I wanted was going to cost $1799. I did a plain google search and ran across one from a dealer for $1400. There's a very similar rifle on gunbroker right now for the same starting price: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=432616632
