Sticky cylinder S&W N frame

I was out at the range this afternoon and noticed that the cylinder on my S&W 28-2 was hard to open up...almost like it was stuck! The thunb latch did not seem stuck and the center pin sems to move freely. I had to REALLY push on the right side of the cylinder to dislodge it. When I got back I cleaned and oiled everything...still the same problem Any suggestions?

The ejector rod has started to unscrew. I believe it has left hand threads so turn it counterclockwise as viewed from the muzzle.

FYI, it worked like a charm! it is a left hand thread!
