I just received my 3rd Crossbreed holster (for different guns). This one has nice soft leather. (NOT horsehide) compared to my others. How can I soften up the leather of my others?

Wear 'em and sweat on them a bit. They may soften a bit but more importantly they mold to the shape of your body.

Some people glue stuff like moleskin to the backside to make them smooth.

I just wear them, the longer you wear them the better they fit. I would guess you could use some saddle soap? I'm sure some one will step in and say...... wingnut13

Could try some baseball glove conditioning foam found in sporting goods stores.

much of what you can put on your leather depends on the topcoat finish that was applied at the factory. many commercially produced leather goods have finishes applied that will prevent soaps and foams from penetrating. also some chemical conditioners will disturb the topcoat and cause it to become sticky.

Stiffer leather might last longer.

I don't mess with my leather goods anymore by putting the odd treatments on them. The one and only thing I use these days is Obenauf's LP (Leather Preservative). The LP can keep the leather conditioned without really "softening" it like saddle soap might.

Whatever you do, keep in mind any holsters you soften will likely only get softer and floppier with time, and you'll likely not be able to re-stiffen them in the future.

Horse hide is denser and more ridigid than cow hide, the cross breed horse hide has had no treatment added to it. If you want a soft holster then you better order cow hide only. The stiffness is nature of the beast.
