I'm getting closer and learning a lot about the 1911 22 on the way. It's a Colt 1911 22 Gold Cup Trophy model from Walther. I like the gun but from the factory the trigger pull was terrible: over 9 pounds.
I'm on a quest to get it to be the lightest I can and still be 100 % reliable. I'm getting there but today's trip to the range proved that I'm not quite there yet.
I put a Cylinder & Slide trigger kit in that was supposed to get me a 4 - 4.5 pound trigger. It came in at just over 6 so I looked on line to find what to do next. There are tons of videos and I think I watched them all.
The C&S, even with their light sear spring, is nice but I have hammer follow issues. When I dry fire and test it at home it works the way it should but when I live fire at the range the hammer follows about every 2nd or 3rd shot. Not good for a gun I want to shoot Steel Challenge RFPI with.
I put all the OEM parts back in and the gun works fine. Looks like the trigger kit just isn't compatible with my gun. So I'm back to playing with the sear spring. I reformed a C&S light spring until I get an average of 4.5 pounds. This is using OEM parts. I have to test it next week and if it works I'll swap out the sear, test, then the hammer.
I'm close to the trigger pull I like. I'm teased with trying to get it down below 3 pounds just because...
