Please help.
I just got a great deal on a Remington 700 ADL .30-06. Has a black synthetic stock. The guy that owned before me spray painted the stock a forest green color. What can I use to get this paint off that won't ruin the stock or leave smelling of a cleaning agent.
Thanks.

black paint!

All joking aside, it really depends on what type of paint he used. Different paints are harder/easier to remove with certain chemicals.

I don't want to re paint it, will mineral spirits be safe on it.
I'm guessing Krylon type spray paint was used.

I believe the plastic stocks are injection molded nylon with chopped fiberglass filler. You can test a dab of mineral spirits inside the barrel channel to see if the nylon softens.
