Will storing an AR Rifle without its firing pin cause a Bolt Lock situation?

Some time ago i reassembled mine with the firing pin not fully seated and i had a mother of all bolt locks. Tried everything to unlock it, the only thing that worked was to loosen the castle nut and remove the bolt carrier through the Receiver extension portion.

Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Cut the nose off of an old firing pin and install that if you are trying to deactivate an AR for storage.

Just remove the entire carrier or better yet lock the rifle up in a safe.

I can't either.

Rifle bolts & other parts get lost all the time by people who take the bolts out for storage and then move, or die, or forget where they put them.

If you are worried about security, buy a gun cable lock and run it through the ejection port and out the magazine well.

There once was this stupid movie...

I can't think of any reason to remove the firing pin from a rifle for storage.

Because one day your're getting contracted by the US government and another day they're double crossing you for their own purposes. The only way to prove your innocence is to show that your guns don't have firing pins.

Please remember, it's a story. Gun advise from Hollywood is quite poor.

Why not pull the entire bolt head? Its quick to re-install, would keep the gun safe from unauthorized use, and avoid the potential bolt lock problems.
