Anyone know the story? I have one, and I aint selling it. Is Frankfort Arsenal coming out with a second generation unit, or just discontinuing it altogether?

I found one and I'm keeping it!!! Actually, found it about 4-6 months ago. I contacted Midway and they informed me that it is no longer in production and they did not know if there was going to be a follow-on of some type.

A primer tube filler that costs about $40.
It's worth twice that when you're trying to load a lot of rounds. Works great. Loads Dillon primer tubes in about 1/10th of the normal time.

It's really cool to watch it work, but then I'm easily amused.

Back when I was hunting for one I contacted Battenfeld Technologies, who manufactures it. I got the following response:

Thank you for your e-mail. I apologize but the Vibra Prime has been discontinued. At this time we do not have any plans on coming out with a new one and we do not have any left in stock.

Fortunately, I was able to run across someone on this board who was nice enough to send me one.

I HAD one, it worked so good I gave it away! After 2-3% upside down primers in my dillon tubes, I stopped using it!:banghead::fire::mad:

Maybe I got a bad one, or I didn't use it right, it just didn't do it for me. Whether I used their tube, then transfered them to a dillon tube, or loaded them direct into the dillon tubes, it would tip a couple every hundred or so.

A friend of mine had grief with his VP with large pistol primers. Mine runs like a top, after chamfering the tubes and pulling a 22 brush through them a few times.

Yammer - When you going into business with the VPII?

I just heard they sold the rights to it and a different company is going to come out with a vibra-prime like unit.

It ain't Dillon, so you can let your imaginations run wild with that one.

I would tell you who it is, but I'm sworn to secrecy until it debuts.

From what I have seen, the new unit blows cirlces around the old one, and never a flipped primer - eliminated by design.

... and get this - less than $20

Mine has been flawless. I busted the little locking lugs on the primer feed tube lock nearly right off, which prompted the purchase of new feed tubes. It hasn't fed an upside down primer yet.

However (embarass mode on) I HAVE forgotten to put the little clip gizmo through the bottom of the primer tube on occasion and have fed nearly an entire box of primers onto the floor of my garage...

I think it is a great tool and recommend if you can find one to get it.

Stub,

Actually, the best thing to do with the plastic tube top adapter thingies is to toss them in the trash and just hold the tube in the VP.

I'm sure nobody playing Pac-Man with the Dillon pick-up tubes has ever done such a thing :)

I was smart enough to pick up two extras before they ran out. ive wore out two of them allready. they do work but like has been said sometimes need a little tweaking. Tell you one thing before i had one i bought the dillion primer tube filler which cost about 200 bucks and it was a total pos! Ive allways bought dillion products and have 6 of there presses and swear by them but that primer tube filler they sell is a nightmare! If someone would come back out with a vibra primer id buy a few more!!

Lloyd,

You can improve the Dillon greatly by putting a potentiometer in the circuit to limit the amount of juice the motor gets.

If you trim the motor a little, it settles down just fine.

Plus, you oughta Honcho the .32 98 SWC buy so I can finally get one and quit whining about it ;)

1) Damn that's good to know, I'm still on the fence about buying the Dillon unit due to cost and mixed reviews. Some folks swear by em.

2) Bear in mind that putting a pot in front of a motor can reduce motor life, as it's not a true motor controller. However, given the run time of the product, I can't imagine it would be an issue any time in the next ten years.

A friend of mine uses a speed control from a ceiling fan.

It is inductive load rated and cheap. Mounted it into one side of a 2 gang electric box with a receptacle in the other side. Plugs the Dillon primer filler thing into the plug.

He's had this setup working pretty well for about 3 years or so that I know of.

I'm thinking Dillon paid someone at FA off to stop making the thing. What other explanation makes sense?

How do we get the feds to investigate?
