I was at a flea market and came across a Weaver Scope in traditional Weaver box. It appeared to be a 3/4" or 7/8" tube .22 scope. However, the scope had no crosshairs in it, and no turrets on it. It's not like the turrets were ever there, no holes or other evidence of turrets. I seem to recall the model being a D9 or K9 scope. Any ideas what this was.?

If it was $5.00 send it to Weaver and see if they can fix it. Somebody mave have used it on a air gun.

The current Weaver company will not repair any of the old El Paso Weavers.

Don't even bother to ask.

It was made for an Army training system called SCOPES. The system consisted of cloth helmet covers with large numbers on the front, rear and sides. The 4X Weaver scope with no reticule and a plastic mount that fit into an M16 carry handle.

It was used for force on force training. The opposing forces would put the helmet covers on and mount the scopes on their M16s.

They would engage each other with blanks and the soldiers would tell the umpire with their side, the number on the helmet of the "enemy" he shot. The umpire would call his counterpart with the opposing force by radio, give the numbers of the soldiers who had been shot and they would be declared casualties and removed from the exercise.

It was a short lived system because it wasn't very realistic.
