Just do your homework (i.e., YouTube) before dismantling your BM. As noted, under the grips is where things can get tricky. Removing the barrel is no big deal; I do mine perhaps once a year, and yes, find debris that I cannot get to otherwise. Otherwise you are forced to clean the barrel from the muzzle end (gasp!), which, if you are not a complete doofus, can be done safely with no damage to the crown. One note: crud LOVES to build up under the extractor; give it a good scrubbing when you do your regular cleaning.
