Well at least for newer style RCBS dies anyway. A little thought goes a long way for problem solving sometimes.

You done good. Always like to see ideas like your work out. Simple, efficient, and best of all effective.

I'm somewhat fortunate that I still have my pops old press and a dozen or so shell holders. It's an old 60 circa Herters with screw in holders. When I have had issues, usually with Lake City or similar brass, it's been nice to be able to just install the die and slip the shell holder on the case and screw it in. Just a pop on the handle is usually all it takes.

With the slip on holders I usually just manage to pull the base off. I guess tolerances are tighter on the old ones.

I think his issue was not letting the spray lube dry
before resizing it..
