Two of the nipples on my Uberti '58 Remington are stuck. I have a good nipple wrench, but the edge of the area on the nipple that's supposed to catch is stripped. I don't mind buying new nipples, but a new cylinder will break me, I'm afraid. Anyone have suggestions on how I can get these two loose? Any help is appreciated.

I use "Oil of Wintergreen" applied with a Q-Tip on both sides of the nipple then wait 5 minutes to remove. Can you use a deep 1/4 drive socket modified with a dremil to get a better fit after soaking. PB Blaster my work.

A simple answer is the nipples dont strictly have to come out for the gun to function, unless they are otherwise damaged and wont fire. Most people seem to, but I rarely take the nipples out for regular use and cleaning. Its annoying, but it doesnt mean the gun cant be used.

A mechanics trick, put the nipple wrench squarely on the nipple and rap it solidly a couple times srtraight on with a hammer. It may help break it loose. I sure wouldnt lose any sleep over the nipples being stuck or wouldnt buy a new cylinder over it until the gun wasnt functional.

If you don't mind buying new nipples you could always drill them out. I've done it before but be careful.

Soak it in a jar of 50/50 ATF & Acetone for a week.
Meanwhile, make a jig with a piece of wood two chamber-sized dowels in it.
Clamp the jig in a vice.
Position the cylinder on it with the dowels in the chambers, so the cylinder will not rotate while you try to get the nipple out.
Get a socket that is just a hair smaller than the nipple -- one that almost fits on it.
With the cylinder on the jig, hammer the socket onto the nipple.
Attach a socket ratchet wrench, and bear down hard while yer turning the wrench.
The nipple will be destroyed, but it will come out
