me: "do you have any 7.62x54?"
clerk: "no, but you can just use .308!"

he was a "script" anti-gunner of the most pig-ignorant sort.
"Cop Killer" handgun bullets like the "Black Talon".
I'm not sure about these days, but back in the 80s, a lot of the armor piercing ammo was coated in Teflon to keep the stuff from eating the riflings out of barrels.
"A .357 Magnum will go through an engine block"--I saw a video in which the narrator said they must teach that in journalism classes.
Not true. There is/was such a thing as AP handgun bullets (never made available to civilians) just like there are AP rifle rounds, but the steel projectile is inside a copper jacket. Teflon coated bullets had no relationship to armor piercing bullets. It was just one of those urban myths that got repeated so often it became accepted as truth.
Yeah, well if you ever have a home invasion at 3:00am, you're going to wish you had that Play Station instead of a gun! When I went to gamestop, got in a conversation with the manager and told him I sold my PS3 to help finance an AR and he replied, "Gee, I bet you get a lot of use out of that." In a very sarcastic tone.
Yes, I do get a lot of use out of it. Thank you.
Oddly enough, there are several semi-automatic pistols in .38 special, notably the S&W Model 52.
Probably not the pistol they were using, as it's a rather obscure target gun, but it's not unheard of.
