i am looking to put together a howa mini action in the next couple weeks in 7.62 x 39 for a small deer rifle. i am going to put sights on it and when i scope it i am thinking a fixed 4 power or a 2-7 even a 1-4. but i like the no worry with the fixed scopes. i see most 4 powers under 100 or just above are rimfire shotgun or mz. not many for rifle the shot gun and mz should be good to use but rather have a true rifle scope.

its looking like mot are a Bushnell or the weaver. i don't mind ether but the Bushnell seem to have a very short eye relief and i don't know much about the new weavers. id have to see if a 3-9 x 40 seem to big the one place has them for $100. i think they are take offs. just like to see what u think or if anyone still use fixed power scopes. troy.

Avoid the Weaver Kaspa take offs. Stick with Classics, CVs, or grandslams.
If your willing to go used, you can get some killer deals on eBay, tho honestly the smaller scopes are usually a little more expensive than the 3-9x40s.
I've bought 2 basically new burris ff2s for 80 bucks each recently.
I'd also take a look for the Japanese made tascos, and weaver fixed 4s
I'd say look for Leupold m8s as well but they are expensive, even used.
One of the gun shops I visit has a cluster of used vx-iis in the display case for bout 120 bucks, I'll go see if any are the smaller ones.
I may also have a scope you might be interested in available in the near future if I decide not to use it again.

Oh, i forgot Nikon did, and may still tho i havent checked, make a 4x.
They do make a cute little 3x32, tho it maybe too short to use on your Howa.
I see Burris/Pentax 4x and mini scopes at a low cost sometimes.

I should also clarify, dont buy a Weaver Kaspa unless its cheap. The 3-9s go for about 40 bucks brand new over the counter here. Some of the other models have a bit of a following, and i used a couple of the "tactical" variants. They worked fine, but eye relief sucked, and for the cost Id have gone with a different cheaper scope.

loonwulf thanks for the tips on the weavers. id like to find a old k 2.5 or k4 that's not going to happen for me. i do have to look real good on ebay to se what i find. its the worst time of the year to buy a scope don't see any sales. Nikon doe make a 4 but only as a rimfire. and the 3 looks big with those turrets.

u have that new Bushnell how are u liking it. i wish the shop i am working in had more scopes. but we have the cheap stuff and some Leopold and zeiss.

The UltraHD?

I like them, good clear glass solid construction. They do make a 1.5-6x32 that's not listed as a muzzleloader scope.
The one issue I have with them is that the cross hairs are very thin.

Oh yeah probably that one......I'd send u that scope to try but my buddy kapu'd it for his muzzleloader. Mine was a muzzleloader scope with parallax set at 75 I think. They rifle version, I THINK, is specked at 150

LOOOOOONG 5" or so. It worked fine on my .375, and most scopes don't have enough tube, or eye relief for me to get them back far enough. The Ff2 that's on there just barely makes it. I'll need to get a rail eventually
ok nice i am big boned and need a scope far back. i like a shorter lop for this reason to. that's whey i like sights so much. i have to see what those scopes are going for now. they need more scopes for use tight neckers lol.
