Subcompact 380 vs sub 9mm

subcompact 380 would be an LWS, compact would be a LCP, standard would be a PPK.

+1 on the Kahr CM9. It will fit in a pocket (very tightly in jeans). The trigger is a little long but much shorter than a Ruger and lighter.

The gun holds 6+7 with a flush mag and 7+1 in the extended. Recoil is easily manageable and it is very accurate and points very naturally for me.

I'm a short guy with very small hands and have no trouble with the Kahr. Mine has been 100% reliable with 400 rounds through it mixed FMJ and JHP. I generally use 115gr FMJ for range practice and 124gr JHP for SD. It carries very well and comfortable IWB (generally around 5pm), but I have also tried in appendix style and can deal with it short term but definitely prefer 5.

Good luck on your search.

Does anyone have measurements height and length on the Beretta Nano and the Kahr CM9. I'm at work and can't access the manufacturers websites for data.

Thanks!

Psb thanks mac66 for the link!

Nano
Length: 5.63 inches
Height: 4.17 inches
Width: .9 inches
Weight: 17.67 ounces

CM9
Length: 5.42 inches
Height: 4.0 inches

I was going to go with the CM9 but got the Nano on sale for $339. Can't go wrong either way. Nano is easy to pocket carry in larger pockets like cargo shorts and disappears IWB.

Wow, thanks guys. Count zero you list some companies I've never heard of :)

I'm unable from work to compare the sig p938 vs sig p290. Count zero data says p290 is shorter but heavier.

Most of those figures are from the manufacturers' websites. And many times they measure across the slide for width. I have a feeling that if you measured where the slide stop lever is on the SCCY it would be wider than 1" as would be the case with a few of these pistols.

I had the opportunity to go to our biggest LCS and they actually had the Sig 983, Sig P290 a Kahr PM99. I tried out the trigger on all 3 and can't say I like the long travel of the Kahr at all. The trigger on the Sig 983 is firm and the travel is relatively short, the DAO trigger on the P290 was a pleasant travel somewhat long and soft. The Sig P983 weight was obviously lighter but the P290 felt well balanced somehow.

I chose the Sig P290. Thanks so much CountZer0 because I didn't know about the Sig 290 and it didn't seem to be discussed much anywhere I looked.

I'm totally happy with my Rohrbaugh R9

Very slim, no controls on the side to hand on clothing, not a short SA trigger, but the trigger is smooth.

+1. I bought one of those and no longer look at other midget options. Great pocket gun. Quite honestly the only thing I do not like is the maker does not seem to accept online orders for springs plus extra mags and one has to call, mail or fax request in. I do not like that at all.

You say you are 5ft-7" and 155 lbs and you want to pocket carry. Before you buy a "Pocket nine" you might want to borrow one first or carry another with that weight and size in your pocket for a few days first. About 18 oz fully loaded , at least. Most people who buy "Pocket" nines do not carry them in their pockets, they usually carry a small 380 for that and carry the nine outside the pocket in a holster. I am much taller than you and like many others I know, find it uncomfortable to pocket carry my Kahr PM9-18.5 oz loaded. Just a thought for you to consider before you buy-Snoop

That said, I do not have a Rohrbaugh r9, which is as close to pocket carry that I have seen. But , I am thinking about one soon to possibly replacing my LCP Ruger 380.

I wondered too if I could carry a pocket nine around

I carried 18 ounces of change around, to see how annoying it was or if it was doable. The R9 is expensive and I didn't want to plunk down that kind of money to find out I wasn't going to carry it as intended.

The R9 is 13.5 ounces empty

The magazine is 1.6 ounces

Fully loaded with seven rounds of 115gr ammo, my pistol weighs 17.8 ounces.

I got these measurements from actually weighing it on a scale.

One of the things I also wanted to be able to do is pocket carry in a business suit. The R9 makes it possible but I'll admit it is annoying in business slacks. Because the material of my business slacks is thin, and not as thick as jeans, it gets irritating while sitting down and having that pistol rubbing against my leg. But it is not so bad walking around.

Chiltech - please post a range report / review on the 290 when you are able. Its a model I am considering ...

I have a p3at aand two cm9. All have well over 1000 rounds down range (actually desert) and the cm9 is the best medium between reliability, functionality, carry and just plain being able to keep it on target while being emptied at speed.

I listed the capacity for the Kel Tec P-11

Kel Tec P-11
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.1 in
Length: 5.6 in
Height: 4.3 in
Width: 1.0 in
Weight: 14 oz
Capacity: 10+1 Rounds

I can't go back and edit the previous post but here are the correct specs ^
