Subcompact double-stack 9mm options?

I've been carrying a P250SC for a couple of years....fit me and I shoot it well.
Have had no burps in all that time! It gets shot once a month...feeds Fed,WW
and Carbon with no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I'm also one of those people who shoots their G26 as well if not better than the G19. I shot the G26 (Gen 3) well from day one. It took several thousand rounds and lots of playing around with backstraps to get the G19 (Gen 4) to shoot as well for me. The hump on a G26 grip comes out higher in the hand and just fits like magic. Perhaps it's my imagination, but I also like how the G26 feels like it cycles faster and gets back on target faster.

I use both the factory 10 rd mags and the factory 10+2 mags and alternate between each string at the range so that I feel completely comfortable with either.

I always go back to Glocks, I have had a 26 since they came out, as well as several others. To me there just is not enough of a difference other than aesthetics. The Glock is going to fire all of the time, I am sure of that or I would not own them for so many years, they fire clean, dirty, and even with broken parts, "guide rod". I can't see switching, although for around the house I carry a Kahr, because it fits in my pocket.
When you ask a question like this, only you can answer it, as we don't know your habits or intent.
Like do you carry in the house, at work, with or without an external holster, extra mags, heavy clothes, or a tee shirt. All this and more goes into the decision of what gun to buy. When you say in a pinch, for instance, I have no idea what that means. In the house, or outside, at night or in daylight, light, laser, night sights?

Interesting logic - the 19 is better because of the longer grip, so get one and cut the grip off to match the 26......:D

I own a 26, a 19, and several others. I find the 26 a joy to shoot with standard mags. It's fast and very accurate, certainly accurate enough for a carry gun.

If I were choosing a single handgun to "do it all", a 19 or 23 might well be the winner. Fortunately, I am not limited to one. Of the ten on my CCW permit, the ones I carry most are the G26, Shield 9, G36, and G30. Of the double-stacks, the G26 is carried most, by far.

Realize that here in California, 10+1 is pretty much the limit. That negates some of the advantage of a larger platform for CCW.
I am still not going to give up the sight radius of the G19. Once you cut the G19 down to accept a 10 shot magazine most the hump is gone. The hump is the only part of a G19 that sticks out of any of my pockets now. I would have a pistol I can pocket carry and shoot quick. I have learned to appreciate a longer sight radius over the years. If I could carry a 17 or 34 I would not own a 19.

You're probably right, but I am interested in alternatives to the Glocks which I have always found to be, to use a technical term, icky. ;-p

It's so tempting to suggest otherwise, but the subcompact Glocks are market leaders for very good reasons. Every time a new small 9/40 comes out, I wonder if I need to snatch one. But nothing seems to hit so many points as well as the Baby Glock platform.

As for the relatively small dimensional differences between the compacts & subcompacts, those fractions of an inch here & there make a huge difference for some people. If you live in a warm area, a shorter grip is always easier to conceal than a larger one.

Holster makers cater to Glock. It's always nice to have options.

I'm a big Springfield fan. Excellent quality and most excellent warranty. I have several XD's including the XD9mmSC. Very accurate, easy to shoot, easy to conceal and has a 13+1 or a 16+1 capacity.
Nothing wrong with Glocks but, I can't recommend SA enough.
I personally prefer 45 but, nothing wrong with having a couple of 9mm's in your stable.

I've had the Taurus G2 for around 6 months now. Over 1500 rounds and ZERO malfunctions of any kind to date. Thinner than the G26 and higher capacity as well. I'm by no means a Taurus fan boy but mine has been excellent.

Springfield

Like Bo I am a big Springfield man. Lifetime guarantee, Best customer service or repair in the business. I own several and love them all. And I am not a Glock hater, just prefer Springfield.

I've tried a few subcompact nines, but none of them "fit." I think sometimes we get caught up in weight and ease of carry. I've decided the smallest I'll go in a nine is the SR9c. The little ones won't do so very well at 25 yards (not that we'd ever need to shoot that far), but the true accuracy of a carry handgun can't be really measured at what's been called combat distances. I want my nine to not only be easy to carry, but to work as a trail gun or a sidearm while hunting/fishing. I can imagine scenarios (and have experienced times) when I need a carry gun that is on target beyond 7 yards.

Another point related here is that we are fortunate to have the 2nd Amendment, and I want to make the most of it by carrying something more capable than a subcompact. That's just me though.

Interesting, since you listed the Glock 26 first on your post. Perhaps wait a few more months and get a Remington R51 v2.

Alphabetical order. Really. I would love an original Remington Model 51, always thought they had a wonderful vibe, like something the (fictional) Great Gatsby would have owned. The new one, not so much.

If you want a good-looking, 9mm, 10+1 capacity gun with an excellent trigger that fits smaller hands, forget about double-stack subcompacts. Get a RIA 1911 9mm Tactical. You will enjoy shooting it, and it can still be carried in a pinch.

Within the given parameters, though, and eliminating the icky G26, I'd go with a M&P9C. My wife enjoys hers, and she shot the G26 and XD offerings first.

Try the PT111 G2 before you dismiss it. It truly is a damn good firearm not like the other Tauri models excluding the 92. Mine has been flawless through several hundred rounds. There is a reason this pistol gets overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Like others, I find the Glocks kinda "icky" and tried to avoid them completely except they shoot like part of my hand. I never saw myself with with a Glock pistol 2 years ago and now I own 2 (a G26 and a G42) and have designs on a G19 or G17.

Black, ugly, plastic, boxy tools that are as efficient and perfect at what they do as a well made hammer. Nuthin' fancy or classy - just highly recommended and effective pistols. No doubt....not a FanBoy. I just use what works.

VooDoo

Glock 26 or Walther P99 compact.

Anything else in this class you might as well look at Glock 19 size. Not because the rest suck as they hardly do but the sk HK's the XD and XDMs, smiths etc all feel a good bit bigger than those two and as good as they all are you might as well move up to a bigger pistol. G19, HKP2000, Walther PPQ etc.

Just my opinion.
