Such a pity...

JSpear, they auction off cars that were impounded, why can't they auction off guns that were used in crimes and collected as evidence?

"Buy Back's" are generally set for destruction, but some PD's allow impounded / evidence guns to be sold, generally as a lot, to the highest (FFL) bidder. It's generally not advertised very loudly, though. Find an LGS that provides guns to your local LEOs and talk to them about it, often the departments trade the evidenciary guns, at least partially, for their new ones.

Funny how all the "buy-back" guns were on the street. I've never seen a gun on a street. I just looked out front and there were no guns in sight.

I agree with you, I have never myself seen any "guns on the streets."

I have driven over a million miles, easily in my lifetime, and I have NEVER seen any kind of firearm on any kind of road, street, highway, expressway, turnpike, toll road, freeway, et al.

Heck, even the road to the local range doesn't have any guns on it, nor do any roads that have gun stores on them!
:barf:

'Friendly, Don't Fire!' :D

If we mentioned this "mystery" to politicians, they'd say "See. Those gun buy-back programs work!".

I've got a couple of guns that were given to me by my uncle that were in a house fire and are unsafe to shoot. I refinished them just for practice and if anybody around here ever has a "buy back" I will happily let them go. Strangely enough, I've never heard of one happening here in KY.

Wonder if they ever have any across the river in Cincinnati?

There have been a few of the so-called "buy-backs" in Cleveland, not sure about Cincinnati.

On the video of the last one the local mainscream media bally-hooed A LOT, I could see an old-model 3-screw Super Blackhawk (I think it was an SBH, had the square trigger guard), an M1 Garand, M1 carbine, Mossberg 500, and a couple of brass-frame "Army Remington" BP revolvers. I didn't get a good look, one pistol appeared to be a Luger.
