suggestions for a 91/30 scope

Well, that particular scope and mount is for an SVD not a Mosin. You would need a PU or a PE scope. Then you would need to cut out some of the stock and drill and tap the receiver. To me it's not really worth it. You would be better of buying one with the scope already mounted. Then there's always putting a scout mount on the rear sight, but they seem to be very hit or miss. I had one set up like that and it was terrible. Just my two cents. just out of curiosity what type of Mosin do you have? You wouldn't want to go and butcher a rare Mosin.

Do you know that you can remove the rear sight assembly from a 91/30, and there's a 3/8" dovetail milled on top of the barrel? You can then use a 3/8" scope mount on that dovetail and put any kind of scout scope on it. You have to drive out the two pins holding the mount to the receiver, and the mount is lightly soldered to the dovetail. A small torch and a little heat will get it off easily with no damage.

Lots of info out there about it. I don't know how much is on this site, but I can point you to another forum with several large threads about this subject, and lots of Mosin owners. There's many options for scoping a 91/30.

Here's some examples:

This is a Leapers air rifle mount, $15 at Optics Planet. I have one on my Mosin, but haven't test fired it yet.

If you want an offset scope, just find one of the Ukrainian faked snipers and guy it for the ~$350 it'll run you, it's cheaper in the long run, it'll be at least 100 ish for the mount, at least 50+ for the mount and then you need the scope...

You know, that's not a bad idea. I held one of those at a Big 5 and looked it over, and thought "ewwww", but now that you mention it, modifying a standard 91/30 into one of those fakes yourself with that PU mount and scope probably would cost as much, maybe more considering your labor and the hassle.
