S&W 3913 This is a good 9mm for carry and you already used to a S&W auto.

My self I go to a Colt Defender in 45 I bought a used one 2003 model, last week for 550.
Shoots great and carries like a dream

thanks for the suggestions

I got off work early today and headed to the gun store with a list I made from this thread. I looked at every one that was suggested, except the sigs, (all they had were full sized). I even tried all of the HK's and such that were way out of my price range. After comparing all of the suggestions in this thread I found that IMO there was no comparison for a small auto 9mm. I got there in my truck and came home with a Kahr. Thanks to all of you for helping me with my choice. I am now the prowd owner of a new cw9 which I got for $350. Take a glock a sig and a browning high power and melt them together and you come up with a kahr. What a combo. I stopped by my spot in the woods on my way home and put 150 rounds of wwb through it and I am tickled pink.

HK P2000 and HK P2000sk are my suggestions.

P2000 isn't a subcompact. It is a fullsize pistol, just not a 5" service pistol like the USP.

P2000sk is far larger than a Glock 26 and can hardly be called a true subcompact. The slide on the P200sk is much bigger than a baby Glock.

Good choice!!

You must be aware, by now, that you need to put, at least, 200 rounds through it to break it in!!

Here is the break-in schedule I used for my MK9: Clean and lube before break in. Shoot 50 rounds, then field strip, clean and lube. Shoot another 50 rounds then repeat. Shoot the rest (100 rounds), clean and lube.

This diagram will also be of some help. I suggest you save it to your hard drive and print it out!!

bamabluesman,
I'm glad you were able to find something you likes in a short amount of time. Congratulations on the new pistol... I'm just a little curious about your choice though. Why did you choose the CW9 which is 5.9" long and 4.5" high over the PM9 which is 5.3" long and 4.0" high? I was under the impression you were looking for the smallest pistol you could find.

In any case, I'm sure you will remain as happy in the future as you are now with your choice. After you get used to shooting it please give us a range report.

I am a tall skinny guy with big hands and long fingers. I can easily palm a basketball. The grip on the cw9 just felt better to me. Its still plenty small enough to go in my pocket and thats what i was looking for. As far as the way they felt in my hands the choice came down to the kahr and the kel-tec pf9. I really liked the kel-tec but the SA trigger was horrible, while the kahr was smooth as silk. Thanks for the lube diagram. I oiled it up before I fired it but I didn't get all the points listed.
