I started shooting in a pistol league using my .357 BH and borrowing a .22. Now is the time to get my own, and I am looking for hard data on the most accurate of the cheap .22's. I did o.k. with a ruger 22/45, but I am wondering about Ruger vs. Browning. Are the heavy barrelled buckmarks more accurate than the skinny barrelled ones? If possible I am looking for hard data, bench rest targets, etc. Thanks all, in advance for the replys and help.

I don't have much experience w/ Buckmarks, but the Ruger Mk II's are really nice out of box & there are alot of after market parts if you wanna accurize. What kind of accuracy are you requiring from this gun? It could cost you a small fortune if your not careful ;)

I don't have any hard data to the tune of group sizes, but my club has a couple of Mk-II Rugers as well as a couple of Buckmarks. The Mk-IIs are in general slightly more accurate, a great deal more reliable (the Buckmarks tend to shoot loose) and much easier to customize.

I've shot some 2" groups at fifty feet, offhand, one-handed, with my Dad's Mk-II. I can do a bit better with my Pardini, but you said you wanted cheap.
