I decided to suppress my AK-V as I keep reading it's a platform just begging for a can.
I would like to use this as my go-to for home defense.

I bought a .300 Blackout 7.5" upper to suppress, but with ammunition being next to impossible to find for a reasonable price, I'm going to shelve that project for now.

On another section of the forum, I'll enquire about the type of suppressor I should consider for the AK-V, but since it's still considered a "braced pistol", I guess I'll ask my ammunition question here.

The AK-V sports a 10.5" barrel, over twice the length of common duty-length barrels. I'm aware the vast majority of duty/defensive ammunition on the market is intended for a barrel 5" or less.

Are there any 147gr JHPs out there that are suppressor friendly from a 10" barrel? I would be tickled if I could find some premium defensive 147gr JHPs that still remain subsonic from my AK-V.

I currently have 147gr Federal Hydra Shok, 147gr Winchester Ranger and 147gr Winchester Silvertip ammunition. I also reload for the 9mm as well as cast and powder coat, though all my 9mm molds are 124gr or less. The only 147gr 9mm projectiles I have are 147gr Silvertip JHP, but I do have quite a few (around 500 or so).

I know some will say they have zero issues with using handloads for defense, but I would rather avoid that if I could.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Most standard pressure 147s should be subsonic, but the only way to really know is to chronograph thru your gun.
