I have a Silencerco Hybrid 46 suppressor. I attached the piston for use with my Glock 9mm. I have a Ruger PC9 with the same threads. Does it matter if I leave the piston on when I shoot from the PC9 rifle? Or do I need to remove it prior to shooting the rifle? Thank you!

Spring vs. Fixed Barrel Spacer When using a piston to attach your silencer to a firearm with a fixed barrel, (most pistol caliber carbines), a fixed barrel spacer MUST be used in lieu of the spring.

The above is from the SiCo website.
I believe you can use the piston as the mount, but have to use the spacer cage. I have used both to mount an Octane to various barrels..
I realize the Hybrid 46 and the Octane are different items, but they operate in the same fashion...

As I understand it, you will just beat up your suppressor leaving the spring in place.

One option to consider is removing the booster and just using a direct mount threaded adapter. They are often not that expensive, but may be more than the spacer cage. I haven't priced them in a while.

I appreciate the responses. I have a direct mount and I know that you have to use a piston for a pistol, but I wasn’t understanding why you need to take off the piston for a rifle. Makes sense now.
