Currently I live in Minnesota, land of 10,000 liberals. I am considering moving down to Texas. I have a 16" Bushmaster carbine that I thought about putting a suppressor on. I know it will be next to impossible to do while I'm in Minnesota, but my question is this......If I move to Texas, do I need a class 3 permit, or is it just an over the counter purchase so to speak. Id been checking out some supressors online from Advanced Armament and Gemtek and they give a listing of state where you cant even purchase one. Minnesota is on that short list. This is what im looking for info on. Can anyone help with some answers? Thanks....

Supressors are an NFA item, and require you to have a sheriff or other law enforcement guy sign off on your application. You also need to pay a $200 tax. Even in Texas.

You say you've been to Advanced Armament's website .... maybe read it? Not trying to be a smart aleck, but it's all explained right there under "ownership information."
