Is there a source for decent and cheap .30-06 ammo? I have a Springfield 03 that I want to shoot, but I also don't want to pay 11 bucks a box to shoot it if I can avoid it. At my local gunshop, I found some wierd Romanian .30-06 for 5 bucks a box, but it looked iffy, at best. I do not have the space nor the time to reload at the moment (well, I have time until fall semester starts, I guess), so thats not an option. Are there reasonable bulk options?

I would say for you to check with the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

www.odcmp.com/

30/06 is getting expensive. Not like the old days of the DCM when they gave it to the clubs for practice.

You can still find the corrosive Korean surplus in Garand clips. Other than that, CMP seems to be the best source. I still see Korean and other stuff at gun shows ocasionally.

I hadn't realized CMP was selling Enfields. I might have to get one.

I have shot some Barnaul. $5/box and it is non-corrosive. The only problem with it is the lacquer coating. You have to force the bolt a bit. This stuff has some serious punch over Winchester / Remington.

The last time I shopped around, the best deal was Korean PS headstamp (Pu San arsenal) in 20 round boxes. I bought 400 rounds and it came packed in a steel ammo can.

The Korean stuff in clips and bandoliers was the KA headstamp, I think, and it's corrosive. PS headstamp isn't corrosive.

I got the 40 rounds in the can with the PS headstamp. THat is the non-corrosive stuff.

CZguy, if you can't look at it, you might not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. If you don't, download it! Its free and will allow you to look at .pdf files effortlessly.
