survival combo

oh yeah I just realized my mistake, glock 26(not 27) is 9mm. duh

Thanks for all the feed back, I am glad to know that this combination is suitable. I was just really interested to know the practicality of these weapons in a real life scenario. Well I guess I cant really figure whats Exactly gonna happen situation-wise, thats why its a survival situation, but I know that having a gun will not always be priority one. Your main life-source will not at all times be how good a gun and how much ammunition you have.

Junstin Holder: I think there are some mods for the mark 3 that can do away with the unwanted magazine disconnect. And I could always take off the silencer if I wanted to attract attention!

Do you think having an AR-7, marlin papoose, or ruger charger would be much more practical/durable?

Thanks so much for the feedback!
Based on what you already own and this follow up post below, I'd add either a centerfire rifle or a shotgun next. Depending on your shooting interests (to hunt or not to hunt) the centerfire you choose could be quite a few different choices. If hunting a real driver, I'd suggest a 308. If hunting not a serious consideration at this point, I'd reccomend a mini-30 (7.62x39). The mini-30 could be used for hunting and for self defense in CA you don't need a bullet button. Could also choose an M1A just as easily. If u want a shotgun, the likely 12 gauge choices are Moss 500 or Rem 870.

Again, my two cents. Take your time and don't rush out and buy a bunch of stuff too fast.

Kind of all depends on what "survival" means in your situation.

This.

For me it would probably entail being lost or injured in the San Juan Mountains. I would prefer a larger caliber weapon (s) for protection against animals I pissed off by encroaching on their space or needing to eat. I would want someone to hear me shooting for rescue purposes.

If you're concerned about defending yourself against 2 legged varmints, then the larger caliber probably makes more sense. If it's more of a wilderness survival, then the .22 (although I'd add a .22 rather than the 9mm pistol). Avoid bears.

.22 pistol

All good points here, I really appreciate the thorough advice!

Now, my thoughts on the .22 pistol are that it will not, though there are trade-offs, be nearly as effective as having a .22 rifle. For a .22 will not be used for self-defense(9mm in front-pants pocket) and so it does not need to be easily accessible/concealable, although it would be easier to pack and have handy.

I'm just not so sure that the marlin papoose or AR-7 will be as valuable only because they are rumored to be more picky with ammunition and both seem like a very just-in-case kind of weapon, please, tell me otherwise. But they will be more accurate then the Mark 3, which is valuable because the .22 will most likely be used for hunting. But their is the small possibility that a silenced .22 pistol would be handy (such as running away from hordes of zombies and having to shoot some of them in the head while not attracting more of them, serious). I'm just not sure a folding .22 longarm outweighs a .22 pistol. I like to pack light

and yes, disassembling a larger caliber .223 is a great idea, but I'm sticking with .22, sorry.

Thankyou!!!

I'd go with a good 9mm pistol, Ruger SR9-C in my case and my Mini-14. .223 and 9mm will always be available, as they are Nato rounds. Plus, you can carry quite a bit of .223 and it won't weigh a whole lot.

I second the 9mm and .223 suggestion. In my case my CZ SP-01 (20 round capacity) and an AR-15 carbine with EOTech and light. .223 allows for carrying a lot of rounds, but also has enough power for deer and two legged trouble.

A Kel-Tec Sub 2000 folds at the barrel and when folded is 16 inches long. Easily fits into a large book bag, rucksack or computer bag. Can be had in 9mm or .40 and is available in several different pistol magazine set ups like Glock, Sig, S&W and Beretta. Its not a battle rifle at only 4 pounds but I can't think of a better gun for what you are describing. You will get another 200 fps out either 9mm or .40 with the 16 inch barrel. Its milk jug accurate out to 100 yards. Pair it with a pistol that shares magazines with the Subbie and you have a pretty good combination for situations short of full on combat.

+1. Specifically Glock 19 and Daniel Defense AR with an Eotech XPS2-0 w/3x mag on top, many loaded mags for both.

Short answer

The two guns you chose are two fine guns and will fill the roles that you have chosen for them very well, at least as well as most hanguns can. If you own them right now you are pretty well covered. Are there better choices, probably?

Thanks

yeah, I think I'm gonna go with either these original choices. Or get a marlin papoose instead of the Mark III .22lr
