I'm old enough not to care about the latest fashion, and I wear suspenders, a terrific aid to keeping my carry gun from sagging. I wear the kind that hooks to your belt, because a belt is critical for most holsters. Fashion police prohibit suspenders with a belt, but I do it anyway. Because I wear a khaki vest all the time, even in the summer and even with shorts, the suspenders don't show; however, on the hottest of August days, I forgo the vest and simply wear the suspenders under a t-shirt. Anyone else use suspenders to help with c/c?

Of course the added advantage of suspenders is to keep your pants up. The best I've found for everyday are Dickies.

I have not used suspenders, but as 351 Winchester said, the Perry suspenders are very popular with the gun carrying crowd.

I suspect I'd be more comfortable with them over a t-shirt and under a square bottom button up shirt.

If you don't want to wear a belt (Pocket pistol, shoulder holster?) look at the Hold Up suspenders. They don't require suspender buttons but don't depend on friction, either. They drive a spike through the waistband for positive retention. It is needle pointed so it doesn't chew up your pants.

They also sell the No Buzz suspender with plastic clasp, no metal except for the three small pivot pins.
There is a soft elastic version listed as Under Ups to wear under a shirt.

I don't need or use them for concealed carry. However, when hiking in moose and large bear country, and feel the need to carry a cannon on my hip, I carry my 5" 460 magnum. I use them to keep my pants up then. Suspenders are useful.

Im heavy. I have no butt. A belt has never worked well for me, even when I was young. I pocket carry a Kel-Tec P32 in the summer, a 638 in winter. I wear suspenders under my shirt, next to my skin. I use the elastic type, and it works well for me.

I'm very insecure as I wear a belt and suspenders all the time.

NO! Not really, I got old and suspenders help a lot, and yes I really like the Perry suspenders that hook onto the belt. They are a great help with holster carry whether concealed or not. Here in Indiana we are not required to conceal.

I've been thinking of trying the "uBee" style that hook on the sides instead on back & front. I need to have my wife hook the back on the 3 position style.

I often wear a pair under my tshirt. A good belt with a pair of suspenders makes IWB carry effortless.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. My Don Hume IWB for my 5" 1911 arrived today, and I sure wouldn't be able to hold it up without suspenders.

I’ve always (Well almost) worn a belt and I added suspenders quite a few years. They’re the best solution for not having a butt, especially with the added weight of a K frame. The only time I use suspenders without a belt is around the house with jeans that I bought 20 pounds ago.

I use the heavy Duty Perry suspenders in uniform (Security) put a hole in the left side front, for radio mic. These are the models that use a clip to hook to the belt.

Helps the weight of the Glock/spare mag/radio/flashlight immensely, wear a not so HD model daily. They do not issue butts to Limeys!

To fasten the back one, flip it over your head, use the clip of one side at the front, to hold them together, stops the front bits falling off your shoulders.

Have been wearing belt and suspenders over 30 years. Now that cc is legal here, were them over t-shirt and under untucked outer shirt. Really helps with the weight, especially use in combination with a dual attachment holster and off side mag.

Talk about un fashionable, wear the ones big tooth clips on em, which clip and hold onto leather belt.

Perry's suspenders for the last three or four years. I'm thinking of getting some new Perry's that only have two clips that attach on the sides. I have started carrying appendix whenever possible and I think these might work.:)

I've got some Duluth Trading 2-point suspenders that grab on to your pants, if you don't want to use a belt. Duluth has a pretty good guarantee.

I joined the suspender crowd last year. $8 K-Mart suspenders under a pullover shirt.

My J-frame goes in an upside-down shoulder holster, also under the shirt. It's actually easier to draw than an IWB; just reach up and pull straight down.

I originally did that only in the summer, but I do it all the time now; no need to decide what jacket or overshirt would be appropriate for 20F outside and 80F inside...

Well, my Perry's UBEES came in and I have been wearing them for couple of days. They clip only on the side and are very comfortable especially for AIWB carry which has become my preferred method. I also don't have the issue of one trying to fall off my shoulders like sometimes happens with my regular Perry's. I'll still use the regular Perry's for OWB because the belt clips for the suspenders on the UBEE's are right where a holster would go.:)

I recently hurt my back, and carrying IWB was too painful. I came across this thread and ordered Perry suspenders, using them for the first time yesterday. They worked great, taking the pressure off my back. Thanks for the information.

I tried those, but in my case I found that one of the side straps kept working its way on top of my gun butt. Needless to say that would slow down the draw a bit! This was IWB carry--you might not have this issue at all, or not with open carry.

I still really like this style for my work and hunting pants, just not for IWB carry.

I wear suspenders every day- and with a belt to boot. The best combo I've used are a pair of prison blues work jeans (probably the best work jeans I've ever come across- US made and I've found them for under $30 or so a pair) with button suspenders. The jeans come with suspender buttons already attached.

If you don't like button suspenders, the hold up company makes a tough pair- they have a tack on the clasp that holds really well.

I like button ones the best- don't have to worry about catching anything and releasing the clasp. Most often happens to me getting in and out of a car.
