My precious....

Should make for some good shooting, can't wait to take her out. FYI it's a clamp-on mount with a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 w/ ballistic plex.

:D

Your scope looks like it's set back way to far on the rifle. Unless the eye-relief is about 2", you're going to wear the bell of that baby or have to put your head at the buttstock to get a good sight picture.

Just an observation...looks like you have room to get it forward.

Yeah it looks that way doesn't it. Surprisingly it's just about right. When holding the rifle I can take a peek down the iron sights and then look over into the scope and it is clear.

Does it interfere with ejecting the brass?
From what I've read on similar set-ups on various other boards it isn't really a problem. It is set off to the right which you can't really tell very well in the picture. I'd recommend the high rings though because I got mediums and there is about a centimeter or so of clearance near the objective end and part of the iron sight.

Pretty, pretty, pretty! I GOTS to get me one of those mounts. Where might I pick up something like that? . That is exactly what I'm looking for- my Swiss miss is calling to me right now. Definately let us know how it does at the range.

I had read about them, some love em, some hate em, but that is a sweet setup that you have there. The finish on your pretty is looking good too. I need to spend some quality time with mine at the range with mine sans scope and then invest. DEFINATELY give a range report please!

I had read about them, some love em, some hate em,

you must be speaking of the mount/scope set-up, because you can't be talking about the rifle. :p never met a person that had one/fired one that didn't like one. i like them so much, i have 4. now if we could only use rifles to hunt.

ARperson- definately not talking about the rifle. This rifle has such a rabid fan following that I had to see what the deal was, and they were correct. I dearly love my 31. Way ahead of it's time. This rifle is the catalyst for getting into reloading for me. I'm in awe of the trigger, I've owned other Milsurps but none really caught me like this one did. I would like to see if there is any way to take one and try to do it justice in a carbine (I know- blasphemy). But it handles well in the current length, and I really like the short rifles. I don't want to hijack this link trying to get pictures of anyones conversion attempts, so I might start a link trolling for other pictures of nice rifles like the one pictured above. It is nice to see what others are doing to get ideas.

One question about the K31. It's described as a straight pull rifle, but I've never seen one in person. Is it lefty-friendly or still operated from the right side?

It is operated from the right side. I recall seeing a device that hooked onto the bolt somehow and allowed left-handed shooters to use it, but if I remember right it wasn't sold here and would be costly to import.

Ah thanks. Kinda figured that was the case with that thing hanging off the right side. It was the ring at the rear that made me wonder.

ps- Please note the complete lack of correct terminology in the previous statement. ;)

The ring at the back is used to cock, decock, and put the rifle on safety. A 45 degree twist and you're on safe.

Texfire, the gun is very lefty friendly. I am an avowed left hander and I own 3 K-31s. You can either roll the gun about 45deg left and run the bolt left handed or run it right handed which is my preferred and very fast method. I just keep the gun pulled into my shoulder with my left hand and on target while the right comes off to run the bolt. Non-skid tape on the buttplate helps keep the gun in the pocket of your sholuder. A strong grip is a plus and don't ever cross your thumb over the back of the stock's wrist, that is a bad habit anyway on heavier recoiling pieces. I shoot mostly standing sitting or prone, but if you run the bolt left handed off of a sandbagged position or otherwise supported position it is semi-auto fast. I think a lefty's only scope option is a scout scope since the rear mounts sit to the left a bit.

I'll consider it. I've been eyeing the K31's at the various milsurp places. It's a good price for what is by all accounts a very accurate bolt action. How much does it take to install a scout style scope on one?
