Anyone know, what is the longest the contender barrel ?
My first experience with one, way back in the stone age, they all looked like Big Blue 94's 44 magnum pic.
I don't remember ever seeing a 15" barrel on one.
I have a 15" in Encore .223, on a calm day, for wind & myself, I can ring the 5" steel 5 out of 6 shots at 280 yards.
The 15" 7mm08 can do almost as well.
The scopes won't click right on the steel at that range, sometimes maybe but not most of the time. That makes for having to
hold off a corner or something, I have never asked anyone else doing pistol shooting if they have to do the same. I suppose
a scope that doesn't have the clicks & just turns smooth would be better I suppose. Like some of my rifle scopes.

At least in the early days, mid-1980s into the 1990s, 14" was the longest T/C handgun barrel. They were called Super 14's. Generally, most of the higher powered cartridges that T/C cambered barrels in were available in a Super 14 barrel.

I have a 7 TCU Super 14 barrel that was re-chambered by IHMSA to 7mm Int. Rimmed.

My T/C 22 Hornet carbine barrel is 21" long. I do not remember if T/C barrels for other rifle cartridges were longer or not.

My Bullberry 22" 221 Remington Fireball barrel is 22". They offer up to 26" to 27" barrels.

Finished the bluing in sights & lower stuff, assembled before doing the wood.
You can see there is a slight pitting in some areas that I could get out with a graduation of
light files then buff the file marks out, but the rifling is very good so that's all I need done
as it is. If will shoot perfectly then all is well. It actually looks better than pic appears.

You may be referencing the plated gun. I think it was called armalloy or something similar. That stuff is not interchangeable. I have never actually seen any of it in real life though and I have had my contender for 10 years or more and have been scrounging for barrels the whole time. Being a cheapskate I have had a total of 4 barrels and 2 of them I flipped. The 44 mag was painful, and the 30 Herrett was too much like a 30-30 for me. Sold it planning to buy 30-30 but never did. I should start looking again.
My son gave me a 3030 Armoralloy barrel for my T/C 1st Gen 2nd model and it's a real tac driver, has taken most of the deer I've harvested since I got it. That's my 2nd frame, had to go stainless to almost match the barrel, blued frame looked odd. DSCN0787.JPG

That is a beauty.
This rig will never look that good.
I have taken a few deer with a Model 29 44 mag revolver but have never got a shot when carrying the Encores.
