T/C Scout Questions

Anyone else out there have a T/C Scout? In searching the forums I only found two threads that even mention them.

I picked one up the other day as a very small part of a trade. I took it out to the range after cleaning it up really, really well. I shot it twice and it shot very well, 1/2" apart right at point of aim. :) The only downside was after the two shots I was left with a half black face, safety glasses so fuzzy black you couldn't see out of them, and blood dripping off of my cheek :what: :cuss:  . I have always liked the way these things pointed or handled and I really would love to work out the problems I am having. I suspect that my main problem is that the four holes on top of the action for mounting a scope mount don't have any screws in them right now; however, that problem will be fixed as soon as the hardware store opens. I figured some of the hot gasses/smoke vented up through those holes in the action just like it vents out the two holes in the side of the action.

I have a few other questions though?

1. If you have one or have had one, what are the pros and cons of them? Why did you keep it, or why did you get rid of it etc. ?

2. Anyone else experienced anything like this with the Scout?

3. If my memory serves me as to reading about them when they came out in the late 80's or early 90's, didn't T/C say the purpose of the vent holes in the side of the action was to reduce felt recoil?

4. What year did they finally quit making them?

5. Does anyone have a T/C Scout onwer's manual sitting around even after they got rid of the gun? I'd like to find one.

6. Last of all, I saw where Mohican used 80-90 grains of 777 with a 370gr. maxi-hunter, but what loads do the rest of you use in your Scouts? I was shooting a Maxi-ball over 80gr. of Pyrodex.

7.Anyone know of a 209 primer nipple that will fit a T/C Scout?

Thanks to anyone who replies.

I got in touch with T/C and they said they would send me a manual. I doubt I was on the phone for over a minute and a half; can't beat that kind of service.

Any help on the other stuff would be greatly appreciated. :D
