On ebay, they are selling the following expensive "tactical" boots:

-- Adidas GSG9 Boots

-- Nike ACG Boots (these seem to be sold only out of the UK)

-- Oakley SI Assault Boots

I am familiar with the Danner, Magnum, Bates, and Altama brands of "tactical" boots, but does anyone use the Adidas, Nike or Oakley brands of boots?

 :scrutiny:

Thanks...

..., but does anyone use the Adidas, Nike or Oakley brand of boots?
I certainly never would. They are much too soft for my taste. I prefer stiffer boots like Lowa Combat Boots or Meindl Army Pros. They offer more support for my ankles and more protection for my soles.

I agree, I have a Capt that I work with that has a pair of the GSG9' from Adidas and he thinks they are too soft. The first pair he had didn't last him 6 months of regular wear. He uses them on a tactical team only now.

I recently bought a pair of Thorogood "Force Recon" boots for duty, and they are about as tactical as I will ever need. They never squeek and are water proof. They look pretty cool also.

YMMV:D

Maybe Im old fashioned but I still prefer the Altama Speedlace Combat Boots. They are they greatest dang boots I've ever had. Just takes a small break-in period. And I would no sooner take a pair of Adidas or Nike boots into a tactical situation than I would a pair of clown shoes.

Only lasted six months...?

People.....take good care of your feet...you won't be sorry

If you wear them regularly you SHOULD replace them every six months

But most of us won't!

I have trashed reasonably good hiking boots in a day

Ok...it was 17 hrs...

And I hiked 50 miles

With about 6,000 ft elevation gain..and loss

Im wearing the Oakley hot weather boots right now. You wont find them on Oakleys website. Check out their govt sales web site.

haha...I'm sure there is some purpose to these products but what makes a boot tactical? Jack of all trades, master of none?

If I need to chase after someone, I want "tactical running shoes."

If I want to hide out in the woods, I want "tactical hiking boots."

If I am rock climbing, I want "tactical climbing shoes."

I have a pair of leather LaSportiva heavy duty hiking/mountaineering boots that I use for outdoor stuff, walking around in the mud, riding my motorcycle, etc...

I have a friend at the DOS that loves his Oakley's. I am on my second pair of Matterhorn CST's, and don't anticipate going in a different direction.

I have a pair of Oakley boots, bought them when I was in Iraq, I really like them, took me a day to break them in and yeah the sole is a bit on the soft side, they stood up to 7 months of heavy duty use pretty good, I plan on getting another pair here soon. Never been a fan of the jungles.

Not that they're on your list but I love 511 boots...there is no breakin period pain just comfy boots..
