Is there such a thing as a tactical loop sling? Something like the VTAC or VCAS that can also be used as a shooting aid like the M14/M16 Gi web sling?
About a month ago, I went to my first Appleseed. I enjoyed it, I learned a lot, but there was definately a "culture shock" that caught me off guard, even though I knew it was coming. This stemmed from how a lot of the things I've picked up, (the "magpul" technique, speed reloads, you know, tactical cool guy stuff) was not only discouraged, but in some cases there were rules prohibiting it. And that's fine! I totally get that its a completely different context, but I still want to be able to take what I learned there, and aply it to the tactical carbine/ 3 gun world.
Basically, what I'm looking for is a sling that is a lot like the VTAC, but that can also be used as a shooting aid. I got to thinking about it, and it seems to me, just about any two point sling with a quick release on the buttstock and an extra shackle thrown in that I can take a loop out of, would do the job just fine.
I just can't shake the feeling that if it was simple, some one else's would have done it by now. Is there something I'm missing?
Then last night, I stumbled across the Rifles Only FTW carbine sling. I've heard some people make rather negative comments about 1 point slings with a bungee, but this sling looks pretty interesting. Anyone have any experiance with one? I'll post a link to the YouTube video as a comment here shortly.
