Tactical Pen, Tactical Flashlight and Tactical Bacon

I have three bail out bags from that site. Two are used for range bags and the other is always in my truck for emergency use. They can swallow a whole lot of gear and hold up very well to abuse.

Any pics of this? I need a new gym bag.

I've seen the "Tactical Pens" but I don't understand the use for them. Yeah sure your going to stab the 1st thug who bows up on you... with a pen... seriously this is just an expensive prison shank. If you have ever seen someone stabbed you know this will not stop an attacker unless its an extremely well placed strike. Meaning your lucky you got a temple or eye strike. Seems like the personal defense sector knows they can throw tactical in front of anything and we are going to buy it up. This is almost useless minus the fact that it writes. If your concerned for your personal safety that much invest in a sharp knife, use it for slicing instead of stabbing. Go for tendons or large muscle group to incapacitate a threat. Rather than an over priced "Tactical Pen" used to land a lucky strike that will more then likely just piss some one off. If you've ever been in a fight you know how they work. Regardless of my discontent for these products if this is your last line of personal defense, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE become extremely proficient with your shank so if the need arises you can land that lucky strike.

Expensive Prison Shank?

I'm sure there are tactikewl pens designed for stabbing. I have never actually met one.

I do, however, have one of these:

. . . and I have to confess I would probably not try to stab anyone with it (not to say that couldn't happen) but rather it would likely be more effective used as a kubotan.

It doesn't have a "tactical" profile. It's "just a pen." It's "just" a heavy duty, over-engineered aluminum pen with a well-machined screw-on cap.

The nice thing about it is that it will probably pass through security at airports, courts, and the like without raising an eyebrow. The same could not be said of "a sharp knife"

The point of having something like this is less to do with looking for opportunities to "improvise badly" and more to do with being able to improvise at all in otherwise restrictive circumstances.

there is your mid grade tactical pen. running at about 100$. I understand it can go where a knife can't i.e. Airports, Court Rooms, Schools... so can martial arts. Much more available, concealable and practical. I've never seen a class the teaches the expertise on "pen fighting"

Pens serve as expedient kubatons. Pens made for the purpose begin to be kubatons with writing ability.

At least my tactical micro pry bar is useful, but it doesn't write anywhere near as well as my Embassy Tactical Pen. It is a good feeling pen in the hand, I prefer the feel over my Montblanc (it was a gift, a case of ammo would have been more useful just not as long lasting), I just wish they had machined the barrel so the cap fits on it when I'm writing.

I can't believe I've missed this site for so long. And what a coincidence... I need to add 5 lbs of survival gear to my flight suit! Is that pen rated for altitude? I'm sooo claiming this as a tax deduction (you know, work related.) :D

I was showing my Embassy Pen to a sales rep at work who happens to be a fellow shooter and another rep commented on it. He didn't quite understand the logic behind a pen like this. The first rep grabbed his wrist with both hands with the pen being a "bridge" between and put some pressure on the other rep's wrist. He instantly understood what a pen like this could do. It didn't hurt him because there wasn't a lot of pressure applied, but he did get the point.

Personally, I bought it because I liked it and it seems to write when no other pen around me does.

Altitude

Is that pen rated for altitude?

The refill in that pen is the standard Fisher Space Pen refill.

It's sealed and pressurized. The only ball point pen ever to be used in Space under weightless conditions, if my data is right.

I would carry it with confidence. Oh, actually, I've been carrying them with confidence for more than ten years.

:D

That's a winner. I'll do some altitude testing myself (along with a bunch more of their gear that I can't live without.)

Interesting

Guessing that orange-handled knife is a Swing Blaze?

(Drawing a blank on the pistol, BTW.)

What does that assemblage of stuff weigh? I think I can account for at least twelve pounds just at a glance. I'm thinking it's somewhat more than that.

You guys are close its a Browning BDA. The orange handle knife is a swing blaze indeed. The overall weight of the bag is I would guess around 18#. I live in a rural area and spend alot of time in the woods. My brothers and I own a couple farms that are pretty remote. Approx 6 miles to nearest house down minimum maintance roads. Last year I spent a unplanned night out more than once due to snow. Have also spent a unplanned night out due to being stuck in a cattle crossing that I have crossed a 100 times without problem. Well that time I had problems.

Sharpie makes a steel body marker that while not thick enough to act as a pry bar sure feels good in the hand and costs a fraction of these specialized pens.

Another surprising alternative is the Tide To Go spot removal "pens". Those won't get a second look in the airport.

As pointed out, the weapon is that gray lumpy thing behind your eyes, the rest are just tools.
