Tactical single action .357?

well I was about to start milling and tapping for the top rail when the wife says she is interested in a CCW. Long story short, she wants the 357, I think I'll cut down the barrel, re-crown, and re sight instead. She likes the grip and single action. Not my first choice and not the best, but after showing no interest this is a foot in the door. Sorry guys.

wisconson, a very wise move:) But don't let it close the door on other projects you have in mind---this is what keeps us thinking:)

So the answer to wasted gun money is to waste more money? I live in a different world.
personally I have no desire to do something like that, but I am not sure you can decide what is wasting money unless it is your money.

Too many people don't enjoy this hobbie. They take it too serious and look down on others. If you can afford it and it gives you pleasure go for it

I was just going by what he said
I have a Heritage Arms 357 magnum taking up space in the gun safe,

obvious this gun isn't a collectable so a shooter not being shot is a waste no? it is for me because I can't afford a lot of guns so I tend to shot all I own regularly.

Fair enough, I apologize. I see what you are getting at

Ok, before the pitch forks and torches come hear me out on this.... I have a Heritage Arms 357 magnum taking up space in the gun safe, and I was thinking about making it into a new project...Tacticool revolver!
List of wants:
Top rail
Bottom rail
New grips, like the "tactical" (i.e. tear your non-gloved hands up) grips
Sight?
Ported barrel?
New coating, I can not remember the name, but like the finish on a Glock or XD.

Now I understand the idiocy of some of this. In reality I would be happy with a scope mount for hunting, but I tend to have a history of not leaving well enough alone.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Here it is as of now

I would...

1. widen the hammer spur for easy cocking.
2. thin/enlarge the trigger guard for gloved hands.
3. shorten barrel AND the ejector rod and replace front sight with ramp style sight.
4. slicken the hammer spring so it's easy to cock but speeds up the hammer lock time.
5. lighten the hammer to also speed up the lock time.
6. round the grips for easier handling.
7. polish all the internals then have them hard chromed.
8. polish the chambers to the empties just drop out by gravity instead of using the ejector rod.

This above is to make it a FIGHTING gun.

Tac-cool?

Port? NO. Lasers? Heck NO. Rails? Double Heck NO.

Make it a fighting gun, not a 'tac-cool' gun.

Hey RWDale, that is tacticool.
That is one Big Friggin' Revolver!
Are you liking the Reflex sight?
Looks like you're making better use of it than I did.

Good gawd awmighty,

One of the worst things I can think of is to be called "tacticool". In reference to a single action revolver?.........shudder:what:

Once you do all those things, wisconsin, let us know how long it is before the ghost of Sam Colt shows up and slaps you around......

Just kidding..your revolver, tweak as you wish.
