none of the above. one weekend about 5 years ago, i was out and about on a sunday. happened by a gsip and decided to take a stroll. bought my first gun there. an feg pa-63. it has been a very busy time since. i've averaged about 5 new guns a year and still havn't gotten around to an ak or ar.

I voted non-hunter from liberal area. I always owned shotguns and grew up shooting skeet. Given our area my dad figured a shotgun with long and short barrels was all he needed given the right ammo stockpiled.

When I moved to PA I bought an AK for many reasons but when people ask about my guns it is the first I mention in my little collection. I want to piss of the anti's and open up a discussion with anyone "uninformed" or a fence-sitter.

I'm also a non-hunter only until I can find someone to take me so hopefully that will change soon.

Quote from Jimmy K "WAS implies past ......how about AM
I grew up in the Conservative South, I am a hunter and yes I watch FOX News!
Jimmy K "

Ditto, except my name is not Jimmy K. :)

None of the answers fit me so I didn't vote.

Don't own an AK/AR (have owned an AR in the past) and didn't start hunting until after I bought my first gun.

I bought my first gun the day I was legally able to buy one because I like guns and have since I was a little boy.

I do own an EBR (Beretta CX4 carbine) and two EBPs (Beretta PX4 Storm and FNH FNP-9). I am from a somewhat liberal metro area (Harris County went for Obama, as did almost all of Texas' major cities). I didn't buy the black guns to piss off anyone; I don't insist anyone like guns as long as they don't interfere with my enjoying them.

Yeah, add me to the odd choices group.

I am in between
I'm non-hunter from a mostly liberal metro area. I bought the most evil gun allowed for fun & SD
and
My only firearm is a handgun for self defense. Or a shotgun for self-defense.

But I don't really apply to the first one because I don't have what is typically considered an "evil gun".
I don't apply to the second because, although I do have a handgun and a mossy 500, I also have a mosin nagant that I bought for fun.
I am with Ltp0wer.

Where's the "played Call of Duty WAY too much and ended up wanting a M1 Garand and a M1911" option? Honest to God, playing Call of Duty World at War made me want a 1911, which was the first gun I bought. But I didn't really get into guns until I got my first rifle, a M1A. I got the Garand later :D

I was raised in the sandhill of western Nebraska on a large ranch called the Snyder Cattle Company........ I was the only kid in six miles:what: Being only 8 years old (1962) my first job was gopher and ground squirrel control

so the boss man bought me a Remington 572 FieldMaster .22

Started with my Gramps M1 carbine as a 4 YO.I have many dozens of firearms, I hunt, I target shoot, I own full auto, I reload, but don't own Either an AK or AR. I don't fit in the poll however. BTW I have several (read lots more than a dozen) firearms that utilize 7.62x39 or 223/5.56 NATO ammo however. :D

None of the above. I don't own an AR or the like (though I highly oppose an AWB), and didn't grow up in a hunting family. I live in a somewhat liberal area :( but it's not a metro area :)

Seems you think most everyone owns AR type rifles and mostly interested in self defense or tactical applications. None of the above for me.

I'm only a VERY occasional hunter (twice in thirty years).

I bought an AR15 after I got death threats from neo-Nazis in usenet. I wanted something accurate with a large magazine capacity. I bought a used lower and 20" and 16" A2 uppers and assembled them. I mostly keep the 16" upper on.

I fall into the DNA category also. I don't think Texas qualifies as liberal. I've lived in E. TX. since 1960, the age of 6 when my mother moved us back to her home with my grand parents. My grandfather got his family thru the depression with a commercial trapping and fishing license, so needless to say I hunt. I bought my first .22 at age 12 with money I saved up mowing yards, the gun shop owner let me test fire it out the back door of his shop on Hwy 80, down town Longview. Although I don't have a AK or M16 I do have a SKS in a black plastic stock with a 20 rnd mag. Stripper clips work good to keep it topped off. It is only one of several fire arms I own hand guns, rifles and shot guns.

I'm in a rural gun-friendly area, been shooting since a kid, not much of a hunter, nothing against it, just don't do it much... I suspect because I'm not patient enough to be a really-good hunter.

I bought an AK47 because it's a historically significant firearm, and fun to shoot.
