For the OP, Are you a reloader? If not ammo is not only expensive but impossible to find.

Hate to tell you, but, when 9mm was hard to get my LGS had stacks and stacks of any flavor of 10mm you wanted.

I am a huge 10mm fan, go for it!! I am an enabler!!
I have 5 10mm 1911 pistols, it is a great platform for 10mm!!
Hope you enjoy!!

I have an RIA 9mm double-stack. The only problems I had with it were due to trying to make itvrun with .22 TCM. (I eventually had a Wilson Combat Bulletproof extractor tuned for 9mm, and it has been perfect.)

I would like to build a G-20 or G-40 on a 80% frame, but a deal like this might be a better option.

I read this thread yesterday and continued with my day. This morning I woke up and thought, "I think I need a new 10mm too." Of course they are sold out now.

I think the TAC Ultra $674 is a better deal compared to the $400 GI. The TAC offers bull barrel, adjustable rear sight, fiber optic front, full length dust cover, match hammer and trigger, beaver tail, FLGR, over-travel stop and G-10 grips.
I would only consider the GI if I planned to keep it bare-bones stock.

Silly thing that had me waffling was the matte finish. I don’t care for matte black/blued. There is a grey version that screams to be bought. It’s not $400 though.

I guess I'll be the only RIA 10mm Naysayer...

As a previous owner of a RIA 10mm Tactical I just couldn't love it, I absolutely Love 10mm and 1911's. I had several issues with mine. Feed issues, sight issues (flew off gun) and accuracy issues. Now RIA fixed every issue I had it took a few trips to them. Never paid a dime for shipping or repair.

But after all that I still couldn't shoot that pistol worth a crap, friend of mine wanted it more than I did, so he wound up with it.

I now own a Glock Model 40 10mm and S&W 610 10mm. Couldn't be happier.

My ffl buddy pushes the RIA is pretty hard, I've seen two I think that didn't run properly.
Seems to be pretty rare but it does happen.

You might want to try an arched mainspring housing if all you've been shooting are flats, I find that I actually like it quite a bit more than the flat housing.... At least on a double stack 1911 I haven't tried it on a single yet.

Had one but sold it. Went back to a G20. Wasn’t a bad gun but was heavy, single stack mags, and not as accurate as I wanted, even with several different attempts to find a good reloaded combo. You may like it, never know until you try. Can always resell or trade to another variant if you don’t.

So far I’ve had 10MM’s in the Witness, Gen 3 G20, S&W 1006, RIA 1911 series and Springfield XDM and went right back to the G20. Have a Gen 4 G20 now with a KKM barrel and am done chasing an auto loader in 10MM. Now to get a revolver in 10MM.

I have a few flat back 1911's that are in 45ACP and I have no trouble shooting them. My Kimber 5" barrel is outstanding.

I don't really know why I had so much trouble with that RIA 10mm but my buddy has it now and he seems to be happy.

sometimes it works out that way lol.
I had a 5" double stack RIA for about two weeks.....long enough to trick it out before my FFL buddy asked for it back. Comparing them side by side I preferred the humped housing on my 6" but I actually shot the 5" a little better.

My first 10mm is a S&W 1006 w/adj sights. Still have it. My second is an RIA 1911 10mm with adj. sights. Never had a problem with either. They both eat 99% hard cast bullets.

Just sold my Grand Power P40L. I'm paying off an HK USP Elite 9mm (DM me if you want one too, they still have a couple left). After that, I'll be buying a new Rock Island 6" 10mm 2011. Really miss the one I sold.
