Talk me out of a CZ P-07. Really like it, but don't need it.

At my local gun store is a really nice CZ P-07, . . . night sights, slightly extended barrel [sticks out about 1/2 and inch], . . . very nice trigger [especially in SA], and feels good in the hand. Problem is, . . . I don't really need it. Just picked up an FN FNS-9 [that I got a great deal on] so don't need another 9mm. But I really like the looks of that P-07. Is there any good reasons to let the P-07 go? Issues?

I have too many handguns as it is, and too few I'd be willing to part with. Feel free to comment on this. I appreciate it!

You came here to be talked out of getting a gun that you don't need. Most, if not all of us have the same problem. So I'd say if you like the P07 go ahead and get it.

It sounds like you need a wife. Many of us have one because they are very good at saying "what do you need that for".

When has it ever become a matter of "need"?:)
You can never have enough CZ's;)

Ha! I can't steer you away from the P-07, either. Great-shooting pistol, with smooth recoil and they're fast to get back onto the target for followup shots. My only gripe is the expense of the extra mags.

Well the best I can come up with is that I'm not really crazy about the oversized and squared off trigger guard on the P-07. Everything else with the gun is fine with me. So that's my contribution in terms of talking you out of getting one.

LOL, best post I have head in a long time.

Jim

Your right, you do not need a P-07, YOU NEED A P-01. That one you would not have walked out of the store without IT!!!!!!

I want one of these to go with my P-01

They used to be super cheap. Last year I paid $299 for a like new in box P-07. It's not a bad gun, but its not my favorite CZ either. I had a little issue with the extractor getting gunked up causing th gun to jam. CZ customer support was very helpful. Be aware though the extractor springs on the P-07 are lighter than the normal stock CZ 75B extractor springs. What that means to you is that you can't order a Wolff replacement CZ 75B springs...you can however use your old exhausted factory power regular CZ 75B springs as a quick replacement.

Thank you for posting that. Good information to have.

Handle a PCR or P01 before you buy a P07. After that, I bet you won't want a P07.

But you might want a PCR or P01........

DO NOT GET the PO7!

You'll hate it . It's plastic. Who wants a plastic gun anyway?
Probably won't shoot worth a darn! Recoil will be terrible.

Okay, convinced now? Don't buy it.

I'm shooting in a match the 5th Saturday of this month. The lucky ticket holder wins a PO7.
I'll let you know how bad it feels and shoots after I win it, so you'll know you did the right thing.:neener:

The P07 is a stylish and comfortable gun that I wanted to love.

But the safety is limp and there's no positive click/lock. And the cheap sight paint. Really? It flaked right off.

It's a very good shooter though. While not my prime go-to gun, it is a solid piece.

Under $400, I'd buy. Over $400, I'd pass.

My neighbor just bought a CZ P-07 and loves his.So far he has run 500 rounds threw it without a hicup.Remember want & need are the samething:evil:

As a bit of a side note, . . .

My brother owns a P-01, so I have felt how these operate and feel. Basically feels a lot like my SP-01.

I'll consider it. Seems rather odd to me, how it is configured. I added a question of "what model is it" on the CZ Club page.

That's a CZ feature -- sort of like all of those MicroSoft features? It seems to be a feature with almost ALL CZs.

I remove (or paint over) that paint, anyway, and use Testor's fluorescent model paint in it's place -- unless I install night sights. The fluorescent stuff works a lot better in bright light, and slightly better in low light. And, it's very cheap. (Others use bright nail polish.)

(I'm curious, too, as to why the Wolff extra-power extractor springs won't work in the P-07, as the dimensions are pretty close -- and, as noted, the older springs work. I don't dispute this statement -- I have no experience with the P-07 -- but am curious about the incompatibility. Strange.)

Good luck trying to:

1. Find someone on this site to convince you that buying another gun is a bad idea.
2. Find someone to talk bad about the P-07.

I may let it pass on by. I DID just pick up this FNS-9, . . . and really can't afford to plunk more money down on the CZ. This FNS-9 shoots and feels awesome, so I'm still going to be a happy camper either way.

If you do come across a SP-01, 75D PCR, or P-01, 75B, 97B, etc DO NOT pass them by.

Pilot, I will take that advice.

I already own an SP-01 that has been customed with the comp hammer and a SAO trigger system. Pull is about 2 1/2 lbs. Very much a keeper.

So, from what I'm hearing you say, . . . the P-07 is good, but not like the metal CZ pistols?

Walt -

The springs physically look very similar but the tension is different. The extractor on the P-07 itself is quite a bit different. It's longer than the 75's extractor. With the extra power Wolff spring its enough tension to make the extractor immobile. It's a leverage thing I guess.

I don't own, nor have I shot a P-07 yet. I have handled one at a gun store, and in dry firing it, thought the trigger was excellent. I do prefer metal guns in general, and while CZ did have some issues with the early P-07's, they have worked out the bugs now. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a polymer CZ, but as I do prefer the feel of steel, or alloy pistols, I'd probably get one of those instead.
