It seems the 1911 has gotten the beating from Tanfoglio team led by Eric Grauffel. Though a very loyal 1911 owner myself, im now starting to give the Tanfoglio firearms a serious consideration as part of my firearm collection. Tanfoglio and CZ, are now fast becoming serious competitors in the IPSC scene competing against the best in the 1911 formats. While, glocks, sig, hk, have yet to make an impact in ipsc, it seems its almost official to note that sti 1911s, and other tricked-up 1911s and other 1911 brands, tanfoglio and cz's would continue to dominate the ipsc scene in the coming years.

While I love my CZ 75B & PCR, so much of winning is the shooter and not the gun. You have to have a stable gun no doubt, but I'm reluctant to call a gun "dominant" in a shooting sport. Nothing wrong with it of course. I think it is wise to take note what the top shooters are using.

I understand the ones that work do so like a dream and should be held on to. However, the compact Witness I had (.40S&W) was trouble from the beginning. It went back for factory repairs 3 (yes, that's 3) times. Each time I received a note in the invoice stating "Test fired, ok". After the third time, I gave up and sold it at a loss to an inspiring gunsmith buddy.

I loved the ergonomics and I found it fairly accurate but the malfunctions and incompetent customer service was a hell of a let-down.

I have a witness silver team in .40, made for competion right out of the box, that is a dream to shoot, match barrel, match single action trigger, compensator, drilled and tapped frame(mine carries a aimpoint redot) I only shoot for fun, and it is alot of fun.

Ignore the tangfolio and get a real CZ, shoot, and enjoy. Nothing beats the original. Great customer service and great weapons.

The Tangfolio's are a bit more 'flashy'- Italians.... Why go for the knockoff when Angus can make it do anything you want?

+1 on Angus and czcustom.com, the guy is a wizard. He's a top rated world class shooter, and know what will make them sing. I have met the man a few times, very nice guy with no airs about him, nice shop in Mesa, AZ, will be taking some pictures of his shop sometime for czforum.com.

If memory serves me correctly Graufel has five world championships and I know he has more than 100 world circuit wins. He's been shooting Tanfoglio for years.

Outside the U.S. the Tanfoglio is the most popular competition gun in the world.

Don't confuse EAA with Tanfoglio when it comes to service. EAA is an American importer. If you don't like their service a call to Italy can take care of it.

Besides, Henning Walgren is in Colorado and can fix anything wrong with a Tanfoglio and he'll be happy to do it.

And, don't buy into the "it's the shooter, not the gun" argument. I switched from Kimber to Tanfoglio and won 11 of the first 12 matches with it. Then I quit counting.

I love 1911s. All my carry guns are 1911s. But, come game day it is Tanfoglio all the way. I wouldn't shoot it in competition if it did not give me a significant advantage.

Maybe it's the Indian and not the arrow?

The Indian always shoots better with the straightest arrows.

Further Note. The Chinese and other nationalities at the time of the American Indian were better archers, their equipment included recurves and even releases. There is no mistaking that the American Indian was a great hunter, but by world standards of the time, he was not a great archer.

My point is that equipment does matter. Skill set will take you so far, then equipment matters. At the level of top shooters, the platform makes a difference. There is a reason that certain guns dominate.
