I'm more of a revolver guy, but I also like service pistols. I really like the "ergonomics" of the CZ75 type pistols. I have big hands, so the larger-framed ones work better for me. The first one I bought was an Israeli surplus Tanfoglio. It's a great shooter, though the sights are nothing special.
My FiL liked it so much that he bought himself a CZ75 soon after shooting it for the first time. He likes it a lot, but was mildly disappointed to find that the newer CZ75's have a slightly smaller frame (he is 6'8" and has large hands like mine). Still, he seems to shoot it better than any of his other service pistols. It's kind of strange, because like me he shoots his revolvers better, but unlike me very much prefers to shoot his service pistols at the range. To each his own.
Over time I bought several other Tanfoglio CZ "clones". (I found lightly used ones for such low prices that it was hard for me to resist.) I have the steel 9mm, a polymer 40 caliber, a polymer 45acp, and a steel 45acp. All of them are reliable, and all of them except for the steel 45acp have nice triggers.
A few weeks ago I ran across another 9mm TA90 (but with larger sights adjustable for windage) for $305. In a moment of weakness I purchased it. The sights are indeed superior to the fixed sights on my other models, and the trigger is quite good. I haven't made it to the range yet (stupid flu), but I'm really looking forward to shooting it.
If I'm interpreting the markings on the box properly, it was made in 1987 and has 75% of its finish left. I'm grateful to the Israelis for apparently shooting a lot of rounds through it for me. The trigger is nicely smoothed out. It will probably just be a range toy for me, but it does have a 17-round magazine, and if it's as reliable as my other Tanfoglios, it would certainly be a worthy SD handgun.
