What I don't understand is why this brass should be fouled up when the other 100,000 cases I've tumbled using the exact same method look like new.Your brass looks exactly like when a new dryer sheet fouled them up. Don't ask how I know that!
I used it outside, stirred with wood, no steel anywhere, but thanks for the warning. If I ever need to use it for anything I'll be careful.Don't use acetone, it's a form of alcohol that evaporates very quickly and is very explosive. We use acetone and acetate both to thin our solvent based inks on the printing presses we run.
It takes the smallest static spark to set the stuff off.

I'll try WD40 and then Zylene or mineral spirits. if I can find some. I don't trust the "substitute" that home despot and lowe's has.
